An interface provides communication between two components of a computer system. When one of the components is the human user, it is called a user interface, which has input and output functionalities. The former includes buttons, sensors and switches, while the latter could be bulbs, buzzers, speakers or, most commonly, screens. A user interface is a logical interface, meaning that certain user actions necessitate a particular response from the computer. While devices such as a computer mouse can only send data, a touchscreen can both send and receive data.
